27 August 08: New parallelised version of GLOMAP
New versions of GLOMAP have been written in MPI. Previously GLOMAP was coded using OpenMP, which restricted model runs to a small number of processors on available national and local machines. The new MPI version will enable us to run on many more processors on the new Hector facility. Leeds have also bought a new 48 processor machine as an extension to the Everest facility using NERC funds. This machine will be available to runs 16-processor jobs. These developments remove some major bottlenecks in our global aerosol modelling work.
