Research Interests
My main research interests lie in the fields of evolution, marine ecology and, more generally, Earth System Science. As part of the ADAM project, a large part of my PhD was focussed on trying to build adaptation into an individual based marine ecosystem model. Early work concentrated on the Archaean, looking at potentially viable metabolisms around the time of the Great Oxidation Event (circa 2.4 billion years ago). further work has examined the importance of different trade-offs between various physiological parameters associated with modern phytoplankton functional types.
